I recently went to Ottawa where truckers and many others have gathered from all provinces at Parliament Hill to make their voice heard regarding the pandemic mandates. What I find interesting is the discrepancy between what the media is saying and what is actually going on there. I made a video of what I saw there, see below.
The convoy broke the world record for being the longest convoy in history with over 50,000 trucks stretching 70km (previous world record was 480 trucks in Egypt in 2020 that was 7.5 km long). Yahoo news posted this article saying “Canada anti-vaccine mandate convoy did not set Guinness World Record” , and you see at the end of the article that this is because they didn’t officially file an application and follow a protocol. I don’t think that filing an application was top priority for this convoy.
The convoy has been portrayed as an anti-vaccine protest yet most truckers are in fact fully vaccinated. The protest is about the mandates; being told you must be vaccinated or lose your job is coercion that many people do not agree with. Protesting is still legal in most countries, although the province of Nova Scotia has recently made it illegal to gather along the highway ahead of the freedom convoy.
Our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, says the freedom convoy is a “fringe minority” with “unacceptable views”. He said he is concerned about the potential for violence to break out or a massive revolution akin to the insurrectionists who stormed the capitol in the US last year.
The media has been portraying this group as violent extremists and racists but the social media Freedom Convoy 2022 Facebook page is showing the complete opposite, so how do we know which is really true? Well, we can go there and find out, and that is what I did.
I talked to many people there and listened to several speeches. I recorded my experience there and made this video compilation. What I witnessed was wonderful, peaceful people uniting together for freedom. I saw people from all walks of life, age, race, and background helping and supporting one another, singing, dancing, and connecting. Here is a 3 min. video I made.
My rhetorical question is (but feel free to comment if you have thoughts) why is the media and our Prime Minister saying things that appear to be untrue? For example, the media said that the Ottawa homeless shelter was harassed by protestors and demanding food but the truckers had their own pizza oven on the street and supporters were bringing so much food that they GAVE food to the homeless shelters.
Why did the government interfere with the 10 million dollars people donated to GoFundMe? Here is an interview with the organizers of the freedom convoy, Tamara Lich and Benjamin Dichter, as well as lawyer Keith Wilson and former RCMP officer Daniel Bulford.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said that he “hoped that limiting their funding and resources would restrict their ability to stay in Ottawa”. What I personally saw in Ottawa was more of a winter festival than an extremist revolution. Protestors do not honk at night or on Sunday mornings during church services, they have bouncy castles for kids, and even though the city removed the garbage cans in the area, they clear garbage on their own and keeping the streets very clean.
According to CNN, Ottawa police say that the hatred, violence, and illegal acts that Ottawa residents and businesses have endured over the last week is unacceptable, that it remains a very volatile and dangerous demonstration. Hmmm, I wonder why that portrayal is so different from what is really happening. This is a sample of what I saw there. I have never seen a more peaceful protest. It makes me wonder if mainstream media has perhaps been wrong about other things too?

I have another question (again rhetorical but feel free to comment), why did the Prime Minister run away and not talk to the protestors? It is a bit embarrassing that our Prime Minister has been hiding instead of finding ways to communicate with the protestors. People don’t protest without a reason (and that is just in Ottawa, let alone the millions in several other countries in the world that are now following suit with their own convoys). Why isn’t Theresa Tam, the chief medical officer, not talking to the scientists speaking at the protest? Why have we never had a live discussion between the scientists on each side of the many arguments regarding the mandates? I think it makes it difficult for people without a strong scientific background to understand the full scope of the medical issues going on in the last 2 years if we cannot have open dialogue between experts so that everyone can hear all sides of the situation and make informed decisions. (that was a total run-on sentence but I can’t figure out another way to write it ha).
Justin Trudeau also posted this on his Facebook page (and I think it is worth a minute for everyone to browse the comments on his FB posts; very interesting diversity of views). Sunday Feb. 6 evening, Ottawa declared a state of emergency and started taking the convoy’s supplies, like food and fuel, and arresting people bringing supplies, for honking, and red light violations. I wonder which behaviour is more shocking and disgusting.

I also want to mention that the couple people with a Nazi flag are most likely not part of the trucker convoy. Here is an interesting article on that.
Also, here is a video of the trucker organizers address to the nation Feb. 6, 2022. It is 13 min long and, unlike our Prime Minister, I think it is important to hear them out.
This is an excellent video from Feb. 5, 2022 with Jordan Peterson (Canadian Clinical Psychologist, and recently retired professor, University of Toronto, ON) and Julie Ponese (Former ethics professor at Western University in London ON) discussing the convoy in Ottawa and how the media is reporting events. Here is a fun Peterson quote, “CBC should be shut down, Canadians should just say, ‘enough’, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for another single dollar of Canadian taxpayer money to go to support that appallingly corrupt, ideologically warped, politically correct, collusionary media source with the federal government”. Both are outstanding intellectuals and absolutely well worth the 1 hour of time to watch.
There is a very wide distance between opposing opinions regarding the freedom convoy. I know many people that have gone to Ottawa, including myself Feb. 5-6, and the information on MSM, coming from Prime Minister Trudeau, and what appears to be happening in the real world, is just not lining up and it makes me wonder why.
Parliament finally met yesterday evening to discuss both sides of the many important topics surrounding the Canadian restrictions and mandates in an emergency debate because of the convoy. Here is an interesting few minutes of the debate.
Here is the full 5 hours in case you want to see it all for yourself, extremely interesting to hear so many different views!
At least conversations are happening now, that will hopefully also start to include more experts in the fields of virology and immunology. Science is the systematic study of the nature and behaviour of the material and physical world based on observation, experiment, and measurement. Science isn’t static, hypotheses and knowledge change as we continue to explore all of the evolving factors.
Closing thought, if you ever wanted to talk to your local politician, here is a link that can help you find the right person in your area in Canada.
Well done! A great write up with very useful/informative links! The bottom line, why are things being portrayed so differently in the mainstream?
Thanks! And yes, that is the question of the day, isn’t it? There must be reasons but politics is not my area of expertise, maybe others will have ideas and post. 🙂
