Now that countries are beginning to slowly reopen, I thought it would be interesting to look at the numbers. In the first graph, I compare the daily deaths from covid with the average daily deaths from cardiovascular disease, cancer and the flu with and without the normal total daily deaths. I included graphs without the totals so that the covid numbers are easier to see.
In the second graphs I compare the deaths from Jan. 1, 2020 to May 21, 2020, again, with and without the totals. The data comes from the Worldometer Real time live updates website, link is here.
Did the global lockdown prevent millions of deaths or was it overkill? I don’t know the answer to that and it is topic that I am sure will be debated for a long time. What do you think?
